Where Is Registration?  Registration is at SYB Hall, 4157 Hudson Drive. Drive behind the building and the registrations will be at the lower level batting cage area by field 1.

What Should I Bring With Me?  You should bring a form of payment, a birth certificate if this is the first time your son or daughter is playing baseball; that's all you need!

How Do I Get Involved with Stow Youth Baseball?  Stow Youth Baseball is always looking for volunteers that want to coach or be a part of our organization.  We'll have a booth set-up at registration so you can discuss how to get involved.  Nothing more rewarding than being a part of your kid's baseball experience and building your baseball family.

Why Is There a Draft for H-Maroon, G and F League?  To make sure teams are equally competitive, there is a player evaluation in March for these age groups.  This is for players that are not currently assigned to a team.  The coaches then choose players based on the evaluations to fill out their teams.  Talk to your league VP at sign-ups for more details on dates for your draft, what to expect, and what to bring.

Stow Youth and Bulldog Baseball Spirit Wear: There will be a booth at registration to order brand new designs for your Stow Youth Baseball and Stow Bulldog gear.  Bring a check - see below for some of the new designs.

New Infields Coming to SYB 1, 2 and 3:  This year the kids will be playing on brand new infields at SYB, due to our 2017 capital improvement project funding.  The new soil compositions will make these fields the best in the area and improve drainage and playability!

Bingo at SYB: Did you know that the majority of funding for SYB is from bingo proceeds? Stop in at registration to talk about how volunteering to support bingo also helps our kids continue to have the best baseball experience possible, and continue to fund awesome improvement projects, like our new dugouts, improvements to the batting cages and the new infields we're installing this year.

Stow Youth baseball was founded in 1962 to provide youth boys and girls from Stow, and the surrounding communities, with the opportunity to enjoy America’s favorite pastime.  Children are provided with a structured, well-managed program, quality equipment and facilities, and selfless volunteers and coaches that enable this mission.  On and off the field, they learn about the game of baseball, but also lifelong values such as discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship and achievement.

Announcing SYB I-League
Instructional Coach Pitch League
NEW league for 6 and 7 year olds
Purpose: The purpose of I-League coach pitch is to better prepare 6 and 7 year-old players for H-Gold, the first year of kid pitch baseball.
Highlights: Coaches will pitch from 38 feet.  A season of 10-12 games of five innings, or 1.5 hours, will be played at Oregon Trails.  Score will be kept, and outs will be recorded.  Kids will run the bases following a hit (no stopping at each base).  There will be a maximum of five runs per inning, a complete turn through the batting order, or 3 outs by the defensive team. There will be no all star game at this level and standings will not be kept by SYB.  In addition to games, there be one practice weekly during the season.  One defensive coach will be allowed on the field to assist the kids during play, but will not interfere with play.

Age Groups:  I-League will be for advanced six year olds and younger seven year olds who would benefit from another year of coach pitch instruction before moving up to H-Gold (7-8 year old kid pitch).

Like H-Gold: I -League Coach Pitch will incorporate much of the rules from H-Gold (7-8 year old kid pitch), so it will be a great transition year for the kids.  There will be no stealing.  Base distance will be approximately 50 feet, home to second 71 feet.  However, there will be no umpires, coaches will rule and keep score for this instructional league.

When: Sign-up below.  Games will be played late April through June, with a fun tournament to end the year.

Field Play:  Players will only be allowed to play two innings at one position and every player will play two innings minimum.  Every player will play infield and outfield positions - strictly enforced.  This league will play "pitcher's mound poison" where play stops when the ball is back to the pitcher/coach. Base runners will not advance on overthrows as the play stops once an attempt is made on the base runner.

Hitting: A player will be allowed 8 pitches to hit the ball.  Called strikes are not counted, only swinging strikes.  Five swinging strikes will be considered an out, but will not count as one of the three defensive outs that constitute an inning.  Foul balls are not strikes.  No walks.  Strikeouts pitches are  discretionary, so subject to the coach/pitcher's judgement whether to call a swinging strike, for example in the case of a bad pitch.

Sign Up On-Line Or At SYB Hall Saturday January 21 and 28 at 10am - Noon

SYB 2017 Capital Improvement Project

Stow Youth Baseball Field Replacement

SYB 2017 Capital Project

We are very excited about our main capital project for the 2017 season. We have contracted to replace the current fields at Stow Youth Baseball (fields 1, 2 and 3) with new infields with state of the art Marco Clay conditioned soil blend. The goal is to have the fields at SYB be the best in the area, in playability, safety, anesthetics, and most important for our goal – drainage.

Replacing the infield dirt with a blended clay/coarse sand solution will allow:

  • Baseball to be played earlier in the Spring,
  • Later in the fall
  • Provide better drainage and upkeep that will mean less games being postponed.
  • Improved playing experience for the kids.
  • Less dust being blown all over the field into players, coaches and parents eyes.
  • Improved safety by not trying to play on fields that should not be played on to “get the games in”.

The board decided that by replacing the current fields with blended clay the infields will provide the Stow Youth program with the best fields in the area, which, we hope, will provide a boost for the community program, and continue to show our families that we are vested in our mission and objectives.

We want our kids in Stow to play on the best fields – hopefully keeping them on the field and off the couch!
